Chairman’s Corner

Chairman’s Corner

I have been asked why I am in this fight. Why do I belong to The American Party and why do I believe in what it stands for? As I answer those questions, please let me beg your forgiveness. This post will be raw and emotional; sometimes I get like that.

I was so pleased to have the opportunity to meet and get to know our Presidential candidate, Tom Hoefling, at our National Convention in May. I am invigorated when I am able to spend time with other great patriots, which describes both he and his running mate, Steve Schulin. We were privileged to have their help with the wording of our current Platform. Their insights were invaluable and I am pleased that we are endorsing Tom Hoefling for President!

Two weeks later, found me in Arizona for my father’s funeral. My dad was a retired U.S. Army veteran who was buried with full military honors. No matter what your views are about our military, they really know how to show respect to the fallen!! It was a beautiful, emotional event and I was reminded how much I admired my dad and all that he stood for.

Then, just one very short month later, I was standing by my wife as she lay fighting for her life. Two days prior, we found out that the baby she was carrying no longer had a heartbeat. We were going through a second trimester miscarriage. Eight weeks earlier, we had been at an appointment and had the wonderful view of our baby’s heartbeat and were thrilled to become parents again. Now, we were going through the agony of losing that baby and I was facing the possibility of losing my wife. So much can happen in such a short amount of time!

My wife and I have a beautiful family. We have three children who have served (one is serving currently) youth missions to spread the Gospel. We have two other children who have (or are) serving in the United States military; one in the Marines, the other in the Army Reserves. Five of our children are married and we have five wonderful grandsons with one more on the way. We still have children at home who we take the responsibility of educating. My wife is the one who oversees the day to day operations of our home. She makes sure that everyone is where they are supposed to be, when they are supposed to be there. She is the one who ensures that our children are educated and are hard and ethical workers. She is a wonderful cook and keeps our home looking great. She is also the one who introduced me to this party and who has keeps me going when I start wearing thin. She supports me in everything I do and reminds me of my responsibilities when I let things start to interfere. I would be absolutely lost without her!

As I faced the anguish of being alone as they wheeled my wife into emergency surgery, I was able to really ponder about what was important to me in this life.
First and foremost is my relationship with God. I do not want to let Him down and will do everything that I can to be the man that He would have me be.
Second, is my wife and family. I love them with everything that I have and will do all within my power to give them what they need. Third, is my liberty. I love this Nation. We are blessed to have such liberty and freedoms. THAT is why I am a member of the American Party. I cannot throw away my voice on a “lesser than two evils” vote. I believe in the Constitution the way that it was written. This Party embodies what I believe is right. I will fight until I can fight no more for what is right – because I want liberty for my wife and children. Please join me in keeping America strong! Let’s make our elected officials accountable for their votes. Don’t throw your vote away – vote with your conscience. We live in the greatest nation on earth! Always thank God for that and do whatever you can do to make it the best that you can.

Yours, in Liberty,
~Bruce A. Williams
National Chairman

(And now, the rest of the story….my wife is doing better. She has a long recovery ahead of her but is learning how to be “ornamental” and letting others take care of her, for now. She lost a lot of blood but did not lose her life, thanks to very capable EMT’s, a fast ambulance driver, and very talented ER doctors, nurses and OR staff. I also thank God every day for a little more time here on earth with her.)
