As we approach Christmas Day I hope that we can all keep in mind the incredible sacrifices made on our behalf through the many years that our nation has been in existence. Starting with our Founding Fathers who risked life and limb to draft the God inspired documents that created our great nation. These great men ultimately gave their lives for the cause of freedom for us.
Throughout the centuries, decades and years many men and women have given their lives in protection of that sacred document along with our freedoms and liberties. Those people did not always receive the love and respect that they deserved because of the way that those in power have conducted the many wars and conflicts over the life of our country.
This year my father passed away at the age of 74. He was one of those that served in a war and returned to a country that did not recognize the great service rendered. He served in Vietnam. He was lucky enough to not have had to face the protests that many endured. Yet he still came home in anonymity. He was a great man and led a respected life of service to his country and family. I had great respect and love for my father. I have great respect and love for the many who serve. Not only in service to our Country, but also in service to the communities in which they live. These local heroes serve in the capacity of police, fire and medical personnel.
I hope, as we enjoy this holiday season, that we can recognize the many blessing that we have received. I also hope that we can find thanks in our hearts for the many people who serve us in our daily lives.
